Festive night for charities
Golfers at a Shropshire club who helped to raise over £4,000 for local charities held a very festive presentation evening.

Shrewsbury Golf Club held its annual carol singing event at the clubhouse in Condover, and the charity presentation was one of the highlights of the night.
Club Captain Dr Malcolm Fryer, and Ladies’ Captain Hilary Fabian, officially presented cheques for £2260 each to two local organisations.
“We wanted to make the presentations special, so we invited the recipients to come along and join us for our carol singing party,” said Dr Fryer.
“It’s an annual event for us, but to be able to present two organisations with such wonderful amounts made the evening even more special.”

The cheques were given to Colin Preston (director of Shropshire Wildlife Trust), and to Kathy and Rex Titley on behalf of the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Ladies’ Captain Hilary Fabian, said: “We raised the money throughout the year with a wide range of fund raising events, including a fashion show and open days.
“And we’re very grateful to all club members and friends who supported our efforts, and who helped us to raise an excellent amount of money for two such worthy local causes.”
Dr Fryer said: “We’ve welcomed many visitors during our year in office and they’ve all been very impressed with the facilities and the course itself, so we’re looking forward to welcoming even more guests next year too in order to continue our proud fund-raising tradition.”
