Golfers in Shrewsbury will now find a local club has been totally transformed, thanks to a major investment in staff and equipment.
Shrewsbury Golf Club, in Condover, has just completed a period of sweeping changes which have included new faces on the committee, a new professional, John Richards, and state-of-the art course equipment.
Captain John Dodds said the club had changed beyond all recognition thanks to the dedication and commitment of everyone involved.
"We have been working for many months behind the scenes and now the results of all our efforts have finally come to fruition.
"We're absolutely delighted with the way the members have responded to our ideas, and would encourage local people to come along and find out for themselves just what wonderful facilities we have here.
"As a club we're hoping to encourage local businesses to visit us, as we're keen to develop our relationship with them, and we'd like to see more corporate golf days too."
Shrewsbury Golf Club, which can trace its history back to 1891, is an 18-hole parkland course offering a testing round, set against the backdrop of the Shropshire Hills.
It also has a clubhouse, large practice area, and a newly-refurbished pro shop on site.
"We have invested heavily in new equipment to keep the course in tip-top condition, and the appointment of a full-time Managing Secretary, David Knight, means there is always someone here to handle the running of the club on a day-to-day basis," said John.
"We believe it's important to run the club in a professional and business-like way, to make sure all our members get to relax and enjoy their time here without worrying about administration or other troublesome issues."
