Women in Golf Charter
Shrewsbury is an inclusive Golf Club with one of the largest lady memberships in the county.
We have signed up to the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter to guide us to improving our offering to ladies of all ages and abilities. We have a thriving Ladies Section with regular competitions during the week and at weekends as well as dedicated social golf opportunities. As part of the Women in Golf Charter we aim to make it easier for ladies to enjoy golf and fit it around their other commitments, in a friendly and supportive environment.
We are running a Women’s Golf Academy that includes eight group lessons for beginners with our resident Professionals. The Ladies’ Section will provide “golf buddies” to help support new women and girls out onto the golf course. They will provide advice on rules and etiquette and introduce ladies to the clubhouse to enjoy the social side of the game too!
We want to encourage women and girls to take up and enjoy the game of golf in our beautiful surroundings, to gain confidence and participate in all the activities run by the Ladies’ Section and the club in general.
The Charter Champion for Shrewsbury Golf Club is Gill Ferguson, who is sure that there are enormous benefits to helping integrate women and girls who are new to the game. It will be a real team effort – with everyone from the Board to the Ladies Section of Shrewsbury Golf Club having a role to play, ensuring everyone buys into the Women in Golf Charter.
